Packtalk Pro Brings New Crash Detection System to Cardo Communicators
Cardo Systems’ range of Packtalk communicators are popular choices among motorcyclists to keep them connected to their riding buddies. The latest premium Packtalk Pro device adds some all-new features to the comm system lineup.
The Packtalk Pro, introduced earlier in the year, is the most advanced communicator Cardo has produced, CEO Alon Lumbroso said in a statement. The highlight of the Packtalk Pro’s new features is its Crash Detection System.
This three-part is designed to automatically inform relevant authorities and emergency contacts of an accident. The Packtalk Pro identifies crashes and accidents through a three-part process.
Within the communicator is a sensor that continuously monitors the device’s position and movement — essentially feeling everything the rider’s head feels. If the sensor detects motion indicating a crash, it will send a signal to the linked Cardo Connect app, available for Android and Apple devices.
In the final step, Cardo Connect picks up location data and other parameters from your phone. It sends the emergency data to the Cardo cloud, which forwards it to your emergency contacts.
The Packtalk Pro’s crash-sensing ability relies on multiple test trials and real riding data collected during Cardo’s development process. However, the device operates on a perpetual learning algorithm, constantly analyzing motion data from riders to fine-tune its detection system.
In essence, the more riders use the Packtalk Pro, the better the crash detection system becomes.
Other features on the waterproof Packtalk Pro include an automatic on/off switch, which powers the communicator down when the motion sensor detects a stand-still. The communicator attaches with Cardo’s magnetic Air Mount system, making it easy to attach and remove.
For delivering sound to your ears, the Packtalk Pro boasts 45mm JBL speakers, paired with an advanced audio processor. The communicator uses Cardo’s second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) technology, which allows it to pair with Sena devices.
For fast charging, the device features USB-C connectivity. Cardo offers a three-year warranty with a new communicator purchase.
The Packtalk Pro is now available for purchase in matte black at an MSRP of $459.
