The Waterfront Jewel of America—Great Lakes Seaway Trail
A beautiful waterscape is one of the best backdrops for a laidback motorcycling outing. The Great Lakes Seaway Trail serves both good times and water views in spades.
This National Scenic Byway (also known by its previous official name, Seaway Trail) is a series of designated roads in Pennsylvania and New York that closely parallels two Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. It has expanded significantly from its original 80-mile designation in 1978, when it connected the Seaway International Bridge to the Thousand Islands International Bridge in northern New York state.
Today, the Great Lakes Seaway Trail covers roughly 500 miles, stretching from the Seaway Bridge to the Pennsylvania-Ohio border on the shores of Lake Erie. Following this gorgeous road takes you through a region brimming with American history, splendid scenery, and cool breezes.
