The Curvy Beauty of the Woods—Diamondback Loop in North Carolina
It’s not about how long it is, it’s about how good of a time you can have with it. I am, of course, talking about the Diamondback Loop in North Carolina.
Just short of 17 miles, this loop through the dense woods of the Pisgah National Forest is, admittedly, not the longest route. However, each of those miles is packed with more riding thrills than you’ll find on much, much lengthier routes.
The Diamondback Loop consists of US 226A and US 226, which snake and slither their way through the trees. If you’re somehow allergic to turns and twists, you might want to consider another road, because this route is packed with them.
You’ll zip and zoom through roughly 200 turns over the loop, giving you an average of 11.7 curves per mile. In case that’s not enough to entice you, that expansive cavalcade covers about every kind of curve you can imagine.
