The City with Everything—Arlington, TX
Big cities aren’t typically motorcyclists' first choices for riding destinations. There’s an exception for everything, though, and in Texas, that’s Arlington.
Sitting almost smack-dab in the middle between Fort Worth and Dallas, this city of nearly 400,000 residents forms a crucial part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Despite its undeniably busy surroundings, Arlington is a great motorcycling gateway to rides both urban and rural.
It wasn’t always so bustling, though. Arlington began as a simple stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway in 1876. Originally named Hayterville after the Rev. Andrew Hayter, the settlement’s name was changed to Arlington the following year to pay homage to General Rober E. Lee’s Arlington House in Virginia.
