New Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Blends Performance with Touring Capability
This newly introduced motorcycle features a powerful engine, rider aids, and a low weight that will be at home on the track. At the same time, however, Triumph has sought to make the chassis comfortable enough that the Tiger Sport 800 can cater to long-distance touring as well.
At the heart of the bike roars a liquid-cooled, three-cylinder 798cc engine. It produces a promised 114 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and a maximum 62 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 rpm. However, Triumph claims 90% of the torque if available throughout the mid-range, providing swift acceleration.
Knowledge Nugget: Motorcycle Land Speed Record
On September 25, 2010, Rocky Robinson and the TOP 1 Ack Attack raced across the Bonneville Speedway at breakneck speeds not once, but twice. Their average speed over one measured kilometer (0.6 miles) — an astonishing 376.363 mph — secured Robinson’s place in the record books.
