Review: Nomad-ADV KTM EXC Nomad Travel Tower

Nomad-ADV is a family venture operated by the father-son duo Mike and Aad Schram. Mike's technical expertise and distinction as the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe on a motorcycle, coupled with Aad's four decades of motorcycling and engineering experience, form the foundation of Nomad-ADV's motorcycle components—such as the KTM EXC Nomad travel tower.

Precision-built and rigorously tested in demanding terrains, the Nomad travel tower is a self-bearing structure crafted from 4mm marine-grade aluminum panels and aircraft-grade billet aluminum cross members.

Its standout feature is the bolt-on construction. Securely attached to the headstock with four bolts, it eliminates the need for welding or frame modifications.

The Nomad-ADV tower’s modular design allows for easy customization. Packed with features like switch spaces, USB charging points, DIN accessory plugs, and a waterproof ignition lock, it prioritizes functionality.

The tower is positioned low, giving the rider optimal front wheel visibility. Accommodating up to five RAM mounts, you can add devices like GPS units, phones, and cameras with USB and DIN connection options.

Inspired by the Dakar Rally, Nomad-ADV also offers a Rally kit for the tower that accommodates a KTM 450RR Rally screen. The Rally kit features adjustable positioning for aligning the roadbook optimally. Compatible with F2R and Laba7 roadbooks, along with up to two trip meters from ICO or RNS, this kit helps keep your bike road-legal.

The Nomad-ADV tower kit includes Baja Designs Squadron lights, featuring 26W LED lights that produce 3,150 lumens each. With a low/high beam toggle , these lights have a proven track record in international rallies.

The Nomad-ADV Pro Bar Mount steps in as a solid, billet-machined handlebar clamp to fortify the inherent weakness of OEM handlebar top mounts. Its robust construction enhances stability and durability, crucial attributes during off-road escapades.

Flipping the Script on Adventure

Recognizing the need for electrical options during long journeys, Nomad-ADV's tower provides ample room for up to 12 USB charging points or six standard 12V connectors. Additionally, it accommodates four extra switches, offering customizable control for accessories like spotlights or heated gear.

All Nomad-ADV components are locally made in the Netherlands, reflecting their commitment to maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship. The avoidance of carbon fiber, driven by safety considerations, underscores their dedication to rider well-being.

The KTM EXC Travel Tower stands as a comprehensive solution for motorcycle adventures. Its robust construction, thoughtful design, and adaptability for travel and rally purposes make it a stylish and complete choice, eliminating additional purchases and complicated installation.
