Review: Klim Adventure GTX Boots

The secret to conquering miles on a motorcycle lies not just in your bike’s power, but also in the comfort and protection your gear provides. Venturing on predominantly off-road escapades, I recognized the need for motorcycle boots that are as rugged as they are comfortable, offering maximum protection for the unpredictable adventure ahead.

Enter the Klim Adventure GTX boots, strike a careful balance between riding protection, weather resilience, and walking comfort. These boots have earned a prime spot on my moto journeys astride a KTM 500 EXC-F.

Sole Mates

Let's dive briefly into the Adventure GTX boots’ specs. These bad boys come decked out with features that read like a rider's wishlist.

The Gore-Tex material has kept my feet as snug as a bug, even when nature decides to throw a watery tantrum. The boots are well constructed—no plastic overkill, no flimsy textiles. Klim smartly opts for heavy rubber-like vinyl in strategic areas, marrying rigidity with a surprisingly lightweight feel.

Yeah, they're stiff at first, taking a couple of hundred miles and walks to mold into comfort. But hey—I'd rather start firm and let them ease into perfection.

The rock star feature is the BOA Fit System. Like a personal boot tailor, the dial on the back allows for micro-adjustability while a buckle adds an extra layer of support.

That said, I wouldn't mind an all-BOA version to dial in the ultimate comfort for those of us who value simplicity over buckles.

The sole is where the Adventure GTX shines, and I mean that literally. Crafted in cahoots with Michelin tires, the sole's tread pattern, borrowed from snow tires, grips firmly on wet and dry surfaces. Paired with a sturdy polycarbonate lasting board, it's a match made in traction heaven. The relief it provides on long rides is worth applause.

The boots come with a few quirks, however. They’re a bit on the heavy side and demand some patience straight out of the box before they become your second skin.

Additionally, they are three-quarter shin length, rather than knee-length, which might provide less protection in case the bike falls or something else impacts on the area below my knee.

Yet, despite these nitpicks, the boots have become my go-to riding footwear. Their waterproof prowess has withstood a full bike splash ‘n’ scrub in a Baja ford, multiple water crossings in Arizona, and waterlogged photoshoots.

At $450, they won't leave your wallet sobbing for too long. In a sea of options, these boots are my Goldilocks of the adventure-riding world—not too stiff, not too flimsy, but just right.
