Gas Station Food
“I’m so glad I ate this gas station burrito,” said no one ever—except perhaps Ryan Cook. His comic book Gas Station Food is an illustrated motorcycling escapade through the best (and worst) northern New Mexico’s fuel stations and convenience stores have to offer.
In the guise of the book’s narrator, Cook devours chimichangas, Navajo fry bread, and roller dogs. Occasionally questioning what he’s putting in his body, he also comments on cultural and historical touchpoints. Cook aims to feed more than himself with the book, too.
Although Gas Station Food is available on Amazon, we recommend you ride down to a Santa Fe comic book store to help Cook raise money for the local Food Depot food pantry.
