New Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Blends Performance with Touring Capability

In general, motorcyclists need to make a choice between sporty performance and long-distance touring comfort. Triumph aims to bring the two riding worlds together with its all-new 2025 Tiger Sport 800.

This newly introduced motorcycle features a powerful engine, rider aids, and a low weight that will be at home on the track. At the same time, however, Triumph has sought to make the chassis comfortable enough that the Tiger Sport 800 can cater to long-distance touring as well.

At the heart of the bike roars a liquid-cooled, three-cylinder 798cc engine. It produces a promised 114 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and a maximum 62 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 rpm. However, Triumph claims 90% of the torque if available throughout the mid-range, providing swift acceleration.

Working with the engine is a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. The bike comes standard with the Triumph Shift Assist system and cruise control for the long haul.

For the agility and nimble cornering that sport riding needs, the bike features an inverted 41mm separate function cartridge fork by Showa, offering 5.9 inches of wheel travel. The front suspension can be adjusted for compression and rebound damping.

In the rear, a Showa monoshock, also with 5.9 travel inches, smooths out the ride. This suspension component can also be adjusted for rebound damping and preload.

Braking power comes from floating dual 310mm discs with four-piston radial calipers up front. The rear brake consists of a single fixed 225mm disc and a single-piston caliper.

The chassis is relatively lightweight, tipping the scales at 471 pounds with the 4.3-gallon gas tank filled. Triumph has clad the 17-inch five-spoke cast aluminum alloy wheels in Michelin Road 5 rubber.

In electronics, we have three ride modes: Sport, Road, and Rain. Optimized cornering-ABS assists in braking duties. For adjusting the bike’s settings and displaying navigation instructions (through the My Triumph app), we have a multifunction instrument cluster with a full-color TFT screen sitting below an LCD display.

To provide the necessary comfort for long-distance riding, the Tiger Sport 800’s 32.8-inch-tall seat provides a relaxed, upright riding position. The sporty fairing, together with a manually adjustable windscreen and integrated wind deflectors, keep the breeze off of you while giving more space for your legs than your usual sport bike.

Touring is more fun with company, so the Tiger Sport 800 comes with a pillion seat and integrated passenger handles. Triumph also has an expansive accessory range, allowing you to customize the bike with luggage options for touring and an Akrapovič slip-on silencer for the track, among other things.

The 2025 Triumph Tiger Sport 800 will be available from March 2025 in Caspian Blue, Cosmic Yellow, Graphite, and Sapphire Black colorways. The MSRP sits at $12,495.
