Vanson Leathers Celebrates 50 Years of Jackets
The year 1974 was a good one for American motorcyclists. That year, Vanson Leathers opened its doors.
Since then, Vanson’s name has become synonymous with high-quality leather motorcycle jackets, not to mention its racing suits and other apparel. This year marks the company’s 50th birthday, and Vanson is celebrating with appropriate festivities.
To commemorate its half-centennial, Vanson is organizing a two-day event on June 1-2 at its traditional headquarters in Fall River, MA. Both days are crammed full of motorcycles, leather, music, food, and more.
As part of the calibration, Vanson offers tours of its factory, alongside custom fitting assistance and product discounts. There will also be door prices and raffles.
On June 1, the Fall Rivers rockabilly band The Vegas Lords will take to the stage to entertain guests. The next day, the rocking tunes will be provided by Calamity Brain.
Sunday, June 2, will also see the first-ever Vintage Wheels Ride take place at the headquarters. Prizes will be handed out to the most impressive bikes built in 1974 or earlier in various categories, including British, Japanese, German/Austrian, Italian, Spanish, American, and People’s Choice. The event will be judged by James Goodson, one of Vanson’s official founders.
If your stomach begins to rumble while you celebrate, you can enjoy free burgers and hot dogs. No Vacancy coffee roasters from Newport, RI, will also be there to provide a caffeinated pick-me-up.
Oh, and of course there will be a giant birthday cake.
