Leod Escapes Trippinars Teach You How to Ride Abroad Like a Local

Motorcycle tours are among the best ways to experience a foreign country in like-minded company. However, they have the potential to leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

If your skills aren’t on par with the rest of the group, you may feel like you’re holding others back. Conversely, if you’re a skilled rider, others in the group may slow the pace or take unnecessary risks to keep up. The pace and routes are restricted to the least-skilled rider on the trip, and not what’s most enjoyable for you.

Additionally, some moto tours can be touristy affairs that choose their roads based on attractions that sell tours—not on how much fun they are to ride. On these types of trips, you typically only get to see a prepackaged caricature of the local culture, instead of the real deal.

Such less-than-stellar tour experiences are partially due to the realities of tour operators needing to include famous landmarks to sell the package. Additionally, our wide-open roads do little to prepare U.S. riders for the tight, curvy streets found elsewhere in the world. Consequently, American riders’ skills often lag behind those from elsewhere (no matter how much we like to think otherwise).

Due to all these reasons, both beginners and experienced riders might be hesitant to sign up for motorcycle tours. But there is a solution.

Leod Escapes resolves these moto touring dilemmas with its innovative Trippinars.

Learn the Skills to Ride Like Locals

To be clear, Leod Escapes Trippinars aren’t tours. Instead, they’re more like week-long training seminars that teach you the skills you need to ride like a local.

When you sign up for a Leod Escapes Trippinar, the experience begins before you leave. Included in the participation fee is the Yamaha Champions Riding School (YCRS) ChampU online course, which you take prior to the Trippinar.

Not only do you shore up your riding skills, but you also learn important travel tips from Leod, such as routing and packing light. All this is to prepare you to ride like locals do in your destination.

Once the Trippinar begins, you’ll fly to your destination and meet up with the Leod Escapes team and your fellow riders. YCRS coaches are available to help you refine your skills with real-time feedback over radio, if you wish.

The participating motorcyclists receive a GPS navigator with preloaded routes that take you to some of the best roads in the area. All riders also receive a Chatterbox X2 Slim radio helmet communicator with much greater range and sound clarity than Bluetooth.

Each day, you’ll split into small “squadrons” of up to four riders based on your desired pace. When everyone is riding at the same pace on fantastic roads, you can all practice the things you’ve learned without worrying about falling behind or being held back.

The Trippinar cost includes a rental motorcycle, hotels, instructors, a preloaded GPS navigator, communicators, and a roadbook. You’ll enjoy it all in good company, of course.

With Leod Escapes’ Trippinars, you get to experience exciting foreign roads with freedom you can’t get on a normal “tour.” You come home a more skilled rider and a more confident traveler.

With prices starting at $3,000, this is more than a decent investment in your riding skills—it’s a great deal on a week of international fun.
