Interview: Markus Flasch, Head of BMW Motorrad
Markus Flasch, born in 1981, took over as the head of BMW Motorrad on November 1, 2023. He succeeded Markus Schramm, who had been in charge of the company since 2018.
After studying automotive engineering, this Austrian manager’s career got off to a flying start at engineering service provider Magna. In 2015, Flasch moved over to BMW, where he was in charge of quality for the BMW luxury class and Rolls-Royce.
Later, he was the head of the BMW 8 Series and, in 2018, he took on the mantle of the CEO of BMW M. Under his leadership, BMW M became a leading provider of high-performance automobiles and merged with BMW Motorsport.
Most recently, Flasch was responsible for the development and design of all BMW brand vehicles in the mid and luxury classes as well as the Rolls-Royce brand.
RoadRUNNER got a chance to talk to the youngest managing director in the history of BMW Motorrad on the sidelines of the international press launch in Màlaga, where he also rode the new F 900 GS, R 12 nineT, and M 1000 XR models.
