Husqvarna Reveals 2023 Norden 901 Expedition
The 2022 Husqvarna 901 Norden is an excellent bike—it even made our list of last year’s top motorcycles. For this year, Husqvarna is serving more Nordic goodness with the Norden 901 Expedition.
This touring machine is designed to take intrepid explorers exactly where they want to go. The motorcycle has a slew of features that enable it to traverse both smooth asphalt and rough terrain where there’s no road.
Propelling the Norden 901 Expedition forward is an 889cc parallel-twin engine that produces a promised 105 ponies and just short of 74 lb-ft of torque. Careful tuning aims to provide smooth and easily controllable power to help riders navigate demanding off-road tracks.
The bike features a steel trellis frame and a chromium-molybdenum chassis. Husqvarna says together they make the motorcycle agile and offer the rider the feedback you need to stay in control.
For those rough tracks, the Norden 901 Expedition sports a new off-road-specific WP Xplor suspension with a whopping 9.4 inches of travel in both the front and rear. The suspension system is fully adjustable in terms of compression, rebound, and preload, so you can tweak it precisely to your preferences.
The bike has tubeless spoked wheels in off-road dimensions. By default, they’re shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires for street and off-road performance.
A five-gallon fuel tank gives the motorcycle a promised travel range of barely short of 250 miles. Even if the real fuel efficiency ended up being a bit lower, you won’t have to carry too many jerrycans with you.
In electronics, the Norden 901 Expedition offers four ride modes—Street, Rain, Off-Road, and Explorer. The Off-Road ride mode features switchable cornering-ABS, while Explorer mode allows nine levels of adjustable control over the cornering-sensitive traction control system.
Luxury as Standard
Comfort is crucial on long motorcycle expeditions. As a welcome touch, Husqvarna offers several of its technical accessories as standard on the new Norden.
Adjustable heated grips and seat keep your fingers and bottom from freezing off in colder climes. A new touring windshield redirects wind around the motorcycle, reducing buffeting and rider fatigue on those long stretches.
The bike also comes standard with a set of pre-fitted side bags. The set has a total of 36 liters of storage capacity for your necessities and valuables.
In other goodies, the Norden 901 Expedition comes with a new centerstand, engine guard, and a connectivity unit. The bike integrates with your smartphone through Bluetooth and the Ride Husqvarna app. The system supports downloadable maps, navigation, calling, and real-time traffic information, in addition to the usual music controls.
The 2023 Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition will be available at dealerships this month. Pricing for the bike starts at $15,799.
