Gold Wings Return for 2023
Touring riders with a penchant for Honda bikes can look forward to the coming year. Honda has announced that it’s bringing the Gold Wing into 2023 with an updated model line.
The 2023 lineup features four machines, including Gold Wing Tour Airbag DCT, Gold Wing Tour DCT, Gold Wing Tour, and Gold Wing DCT. Honda has made few changes to the bikes from their previous iterations—but why fix what isn’t broken?
The new Gold Wings come in a few different colorways, depending on the trim level. The DCT is available in Matte Gray, the Tour and Tour DCT in Black or Candy Ardent Red, and the Tour Airbag DCT is painted Candy Ardent Red.
Powering the machines is the same 1833cc liquid-cooled, six-cylinder, four-valve engine, serving up 90 hp of power. All the DCT-marked models come with Honda’s automatic seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, while the plain Tour variant sports a six-speed manual transmission.
The DCT bikes also feature a walking mode to slowly move them forward or backward. That’s a welcome feature for motorcycles weighing upward of 800 pounds.
Each Gold Wing has a throttle-by-wire ride system and four riding modes—Tour, Sport, Econ, and Rain. All also feature torque control, hill start assist, and cruise control. A seven-inch full-color TFT screen lets the rider control all electronics and the bikes can connect to Apple and Android smartphones.
Twin 320mm front brake rotors and a single 316mm rear rotor provide the bikes with the stopping power they need to bring their heft to a halt. A double wishbone suspension system in the front soaks up irregularities in the pavement.
The Gold Wing DCT has a 50-liter top trunk, which is upgraded to 61 liters on the Tour models and accompanied by a 60-liter rear luggage case. Additional luggage space is available in the 30-liter left and right saddlebags.
MSRPs for the 2023 Gold Wing line are:
- Gold Wing Tour Air Bag DCT: $32,900
- Gold Wing Tour DCT: $29,600
- Gold Wing Tour: $28,600
- Gold Wing DCT: $25,600
Honda isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with the 2023 Gold Wing lineup. And really, they don’t have to.
