Do Good: All Kids Bike
Riding a bike is an incredibly useful skill to have, and we’re not just talking about motorcycles. A bicycle gives children both valuable exercise and greater freedom to travel. Unfortunately, too many kids don’t learn how to ride a bike these days. All Kids Bike helps children get on two wheels already in kindergarten—and they do it for free.
All Kids Bike is a national movement that seeks to place Learn-to-Ride PE programs in kindergartens. According to the organization, riding bikes is a fantastic method to improve children’s physical and mental health through an engaging and fun activity.
The PE programs are offered to schools at no cost, thanks to the more than generous donors supporting All Kids Bike. To get involved, a school only needs to approve the All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Program and send in an application. The organization provides the bikes, safety gear, curriculum, and training teachers need to get the little ones into the saddle.
The program has been wildly successful to boot. All Kids Bike programs have been implemented at 348 schools across 43 states. As of 2021, the organization has made a positive impact on more than 315,000 kindergarteners.
All Kids Bike uses Strider 14x 2-in-1 bikes, which start off as balance bikes but can be turned into bicycles with a simple pedal kit. The bike grows with the skills, confidence, and physical frame of its rider.
But make no mistake, it’s a small leap to eventually move on to a motorbike. Supporters have recognized it too—among them is Melissa Paris, a Super Stock 1000 motorcycle racer and the first woman to qualify for a World Supersport event.
Not every kid wants or needs to become a motorcyclist, of course. But those that do will gain indispensable confidence and knowledge by starting young.
