5 Romantic Hotels for a Moto Vacation in the Northeast

Forget Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage. Your motorcycle is the ideal vehicle to carry you and your special someone to a romantic weekend getaway.

For Pete’s sake, riding two-up practically forces one of you to wrap their arms around the other.

We’ve written about romantic New York hotels before. This time, however, you’ll venture farther into the Northeast—Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Here are five hotels, inns, and resorts from the area that are perfect for a relaxing, cuddly, and romantic moto getaway.

Adair Country Inn, Bethlehem, NH

To many couples, spending quality time together involves getting away from the bustle of everyday life. Adair Country Inn in Bethlehem, NH, lets you both disconnect from the world and focus on each other.

This charming building from 1927 served as a private home until it was converted to an inn in 1992. Most rooms still maintain a historical vibe with their furnishings, with just the right amount of modern touches to keep you comfortable.

Although the inn is near I-93, the road only makes it easy to get to the place. Adair sits on 200 acres of private land with beautiful gardens, forests, and walking trails. The property is home to songbirds and butterflies, allowing you to go on peaceful walks without venturing far.

Adair is also a restaurant, so your dinner plans are set. The small town of Littleton, with its local restaurants and cafes, is also only a short ride away.

There are good riding roads near Adair, with the most obvious (and challenging) one being the Mount Washington Auto Rd. Another option worth mentioning is Kancamagus Hwy from Lincoln to Conway, which traverses the White Mountains.

Truro Beach Cottages, Truro, MA

Strolling along a sandy beach, holding hands with your special someone as the sun sets beyond the horizon… That’s what awaits you at Truro Beach Cottages.

This resort village consists of cottages of various sizes, allowing you to choose one that has the space you (and your riding gear) need. It also means that even with other vacationers around, you have a private nest into which you can retreat for the night.

Conveniently located on Cape Cod, Truro Beach Cottages sit right on Cape Cod Bay’s sandy beaches. They offer fantastic ocean views and quick access to the oceanside.

There are shared barbecue facilities and each cabin also has an oven, so you can cook your favorite meals together. If you understandably don’t feel like cooking, though, Princetown and North Truro are a few minutes away on US 6.

Speaking of US 6, this road is a fun ride along Cape Cod through small villages with more views out over the water. It also leads to Boston, with many good roads around the city.

Newport Harbor Island Resort, Newport, RI

It’s not all just about remote country cabins—city life can be just as romantic. Should you fancy yourself more as an urban lover, Newport Harbor Island Resort is your ticket to good times.

Newport, RI, is a charming, medium-sized city with plenty of historical attractions and nightlife to keep you busy. Yet, when it’s time to retreat to your own company, Newport Harbor Island Resort sits conveniently on Goat Island, away from the loudest bustle.

Don’t worry, there’s a bridge (with nice views of the harbor) so you won’t have to load your bikes on a ferry.

There is, of course, a virtually endless smorgasbord of restaurants and entertainment options available in Newport. That said, you may find it hard to leave Newport Harbor Island Resort's amenities, which include a waterfront restaurant and bar, a modern swimming pool, a spa, and more.

That said, I hope you can tear yourself away from the luxury enough to cross the Newport and Jamestown Verrazzano bridges and hit SR 102 and 14 for a pleasant cruise through rural Rhode Island and into Providence.

Equinox Resort, Manchester, VT

On the topic of luxury, there’s something about being able to focus on your dearest while being pampered in every possible way. Motorcyclists looking for a luxurious getaway should point their front wheels to Equinox Resort in Manchester, VT.

Equinox offers impeccable rooms of various sizes in two different buildings (one of them built in the 19th century) to suit your needs in the middle of magnificent mountain views. At the property, you’ll want for nothing—there are golf courses, a heated swimming pool, a spa, multiple on-site restaurants and bars, a tennis court, private hiking trails, a fishing pond, a skating rink…

Whatever you want to enjoy in New England, you can enjoy it at Equinox Resort in complete comfort.

And then you have the riding. The areas near (and a bit farther away from) Manchester bristle with scenic, thrilling roads, from the Mohawk Trail in the south to lakeside rides along Lake George in the west.

That said, since you’re in the area, I’d recommend riding the Mount Equinox Skyline Drive, only a few miles down from the resort.

Rangeley Lake Resort, Rangeley, ME

Fall is possibly the best time for a romantic Northeast getaway for one reason—the foliage. Rangeley Lakes Resort lets you make the most of the autumn leaves and your time together in the great outdoors.

The resort offers two-bedroom apartments, so you’ll have all the room in the world for your gear and each other. You can park your bike(s) right next to your lodgings, so you won’t have to lug your things far.

To take in the blazing fall colors, all you have to do is step out of your cabin door and open your eyes. That said, the area is chock-full of things to do while admiring the leaves, from hiking to mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating on Rangeley Lake… You name it.

The cabins are equipped with full kitchens (including a coffee maker) and shared barbecue facilities. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants and taverns at the other resorts and the town of Rangeley if you’re looking for someone else to cook for you.

You can find gorgeous views on any road snaking through this forested, remote landscape. The asphalt can be rough on some of them due to the long cold winters, but hey—if you come this far up north, that’s the kind of shared adventure you two must be looking for.
