2026 Ténéré 700 World Raid: Taking the Ténéré Farther

Yamaha will bring the 2026 Ténéré 700 World Raid dual sport motorcycle to the U.S. market this year. This take on the Ténéré adds expanded long-distance touring capacity to an already capable motorcycle. At its core, the World Raid remains the same as the base model, sporting the well-reviewed 689cc CP2 engine. But Yamaha has introduced new and upgraded features to make that engine take you farther in greater comfort.

The most obvious change to the bike is the new dual aluminum fuel tanks that increase the fuel capacity by 1.8 gallons to a maximum of 6.1 gallons. The company split the tank in twain to make sloshing fuel less likely to throw the rider off balance on rough trails. Yamaha promises that a full tank will propel the World Raid for around 300 miles. 

To tackle tougher terrain, the World Raid has received upgraded suspension components. Together, they increase the Ténéré’s ground clearance by about half an inch to 10 inches. In the front is an inverted 46mm (as opposed to 43mm on the base Ténéré) KYB fork, which increases suspension travel to 9.1 inches. The fork features preload, compression, and rebound adjustment. Rear suspension now consists of a KYB Monocross shock with an external oil reservoir. It also boosts wheel travel to 8.6 inches and adds 5mm of shock stroke. The shock is fully adjustable.

The basic Ténéré seat has been replaced with a single-piece rally seat that increases seat height to 35 inches. A new windscreen and removable side deflectors help keep the elements off the rider. To make long stints on the highway more tolerable, Yamaha has added standard cruise control to the World Raid (usable in the third gear and above). In addition, the bike comes with a speed limiter to help avoid speeding tickets. A 16-step steering damper allows you to adjust the handlebar feel based on whether you're on asphalt or dirt. Yamaha offers an up-down quickshifter as an optional upgrade.

In the electronics department, the World Raid boasts a new six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that feeds data into the bike’s lean-sensitive traction and slide control systems. Both have three modes (Street, Off-Road, and Off) that allow you to tune the level of support to your needs. The World Raid also has a new brake control feature that enables lean-sensitive cornering ABS.

Otherwise, the bike is the same as the good ol’ Ténéré 700. It has Brembo brake components (with new braided steel brake lines), with dual 282mm discs up front and a 245mm disc in the rear.  A Yamaha Chip-controlled Throttle (YCC-T) system allows the rider to swap between Sport and Explorer throttle maps to adjust power delivery to fit the riding scenario. The bike has a vertical 6.3-inch, full-color TFT screen that supports smartphone connectivity over Bluetooth and the Yamaha MyRide app.
