2022 Premium CVO Harley-Davidsons Roll Out to the Street
Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) provides limited edition models of the Motor Company’s bikes, customized to be the crème de la crème of their lineup. For 2022, CVO models include the CVO Road Glide Limited, CVO Street Glide, CVO Road Glide, and the CVO Tri Glide.
Mechanically, the bikes have remained mostly the same from the previous year, but each has received new exclusive colors. The new options aren’t just any spray paint jobs either.
“Gunslinger is our partner in custom paint that’s been adding incredible artisanal techniques to our CVO arsenal and family for a long time now. When most manufacturers are at the limits of a robot, Gunslinger can go in there with an artist who has the ability to brush by hand and deliver the sharpest pinstripe possible. That hand applied technique allows for very intricate two-tones, three-tones, airbrush drop shadows,” explained H-D Vice President of Design Brad Richards.
Each CVO model is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 117, H-D’s most powerful factory-installed engine. With 117 cubic inches (1917cc) of displacement, it delivers 126 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm on the CVO Road Glide and Street Glide and 125 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm on the CVO Road Glide Limited and Tri Glide.
The bikes come with H-D Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements, which include cornering enhanced electronic link braking (C-ELB), cornering-ABS, traction control, drag-torque slip control, vehicle hold, and tire pressure monitoring. All bikes also now come with the H-D Audio Powered by Rockford Fosgate audio system, new for the Road Glide Limited and Tri-Glide.
Other goodies found on each bike include Kahuna Collection heated grips that match the brake pedal cover, shifter pegs, muffler end caps, and rider and passenger boards.
CVO Street Glide
The CVO Street Glide’s new colorways include:
- Hightail Yellow Pearl/Black Hole with Lightning Silver Two-Tone
- Envious Green with Black Hole Fade with Flame Pattern and Gloss Black finishes
- Blue Steel solid color and Scorched Chrome finishes
In addition, the bike got new decorative insert finishes and scorched chrome powertrain covers (only with the Blue Steel paint). In addition, this is the only bike out of the collection to feature the Daymaker Adaptive LED headlamp, which automatically illuminated corners and other hard-to-see areas based on lean angle.
The Street Glide also comes with Fugitive custom wheels. The finish on the wheels will be gloss black and contrast chrome, all gloss black, or Blue Steel and contrast scorched chrome, depending on the paint job.
Prices for the CVO Street Glide start at $41,899.
CVO Road Glide
The CVO Road Glide also gets three new paint options, two of which it shares with the Street Glide:
- Wicked Orange Pearl/Black Hole with Lightning Silver Two-Tone and Bright Chrome finishes
- Envious Green with Black Hole Fade with Flame Pattern and Gloss Black finishes
- Blue Steel solid color and Scorched Chrome finishes
With the Blue Steel option, the Road Glide also gets the same insert and powertrain cover finishes. For lighting, this bike features dual LED headlamps—the non-adaptive version.
The wheels on the Road Glide are unique, with an exclusive 21-inch front, 18-inch rear combo. This is the only 21-inch front wheel offered on a H-D Touring model.
Featuring cast aluminum rims and laced spokes, the wheels are capable of tire pressure monitoring. The Road Glide’s suspension has been re-tuned to keep handling and braking performance up to CVO standards.
The CVO Road Glide retails for $41,899.
CVO Road Glide Limited
The Road Glide Limited also received three new colors this year:
- Wicked Orange Pearl/Black Hole with Lightning Silver Two-Tone and Bright Chrome finishes
- Hightail Yellow Pearl/Black Hole with Lightning Silver Two-Tone and Bright Chrome finishes
- Dante’s Red with Dante’s Black Sunglo Fade Flame Pattern and Gloss Black finishes
It also got the new H-D Audio system we already mentioned, and decorative insert finishes. Additionally, the bike features Tomahawk custom wheels, dual Daymaker LED headlights, and—unlike the previous two models—a heated seat to keep your rear warm.
The Road Glide Limited prices start at $44,899.
CVO Tri Glide
The Tri Glide got one new paint option for 2022—Dante’s Red with Dante’s Black Sunglo Fade Flame Pattern and Gloss Black finishes. It also received the H-D Audio system, and decorative insert finishes.
For wheels, the Tri Glide features Tomahawk Contrast Cut cast aluminum wheels in both front and rear to maintain a cohesive style. The bike has a single Daymaker LED headlamp and heated seats.
Pricing starts at $49,999.
